  Session Description
  Technical expertise is often what establishes credibility and opens doors early in an OEHS career. But as professionals take on greater responsibility, technical knowledge alone is rarely enough to move into leadership.

  This session explores the shift from being known primarily for what you know and what you can execute to becoming someone who can influence decisions, communicate value, build strong relationships, and help move an organization forward.

  We’ll also look at the role leaders play in creating opportunities for others, including providing meaningful feedback, increasing visibility, sponsoring emerging talent, and building stronger pathways for the next generation of OEHS professionals.

  Learning Objectives
  Attendees will leave with practical strategies to:

  • Translate technical expertise into broader organizational and client value
  • Build greater visibility and influence without feeling overly self-promotional
  • Identify the experiences and relationships that support career advancement
  • Better support and develop emerging professionals as managers and leaders

  Speaker Bio

  

  Erin Kane is the Founder of Ascend Strategy Co. (Ascend), where she helps technical professionals and organizations strengthen leadership, career development, client relationships, and business growth.

  Erin brings more than 20 years of experience across environmental consulting, sales leadership, marketing, client strategy, and corporate leadership, including leadership roles with Bureau Veritas and Apex Companies. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with environmental, health and safety professionals, consultants, clients, and senior leaders, giving her firsthand insight into both the technical expertise these industries demand and the skills professionals need as they move into greater levels of influence and responsibility.

  She holds an MBA and a bachelor's degree in geology and psychology and is a certified coach. Through Ascend Strategy Co., Erin works with individuals and organizations to help talented professionals communicate their value, navigate career growth, develop as leaders, and contribute more strategically to their organizations.
